Grocery sales cycles are the time or times each year that a product will sell at its lowest price. Cycles vary depending on the product, and some products may cycle every 2 months, every 3 months, once per year, etc. Generally, sales cycles follow Produce Seasons, Holidays, Change of Seasons and Special Events.
You could follow an individual grocery store's cycles by watching it's weekly sales flyer and logging which types of products go on sale each week for a year. You would then be able to see which months certain categories of products (such as: soap powder, canned soaps, coffee, dog food, etc.) will go on sale each year. Since most people do not have time to keep this type of log for each store, we've compiled a general listing that will show you the month that most categories of products are either on sale and/or at their lowest price.
This will assist you in knowing when to purchase at the right time or season to achieve your greatest discounts and savings. For maximum savings, you should combine sale prices with coupons and cashback offers. There’s a best time to buy almost everything in order to purchase it at its lowest price, or in the case of fruits and vegetables to purchase them at the peak of ripeness and when they are most plentiful and therefore at their lowest prices. Check back monthly to see which items you should be purchasing and/or stocking up on that particular month.
Also, be certain to check our Best Time to Buy/Best Month to Buy listings for Fruits, Vegetables, and non-food items.
